Two Week Look Ahead - February 21, 2017

I hope everybody is enjoying their February vacation. Temperatures could hit 60 degrees later in the week, so spring is on the way! The Competitive Class Plays were last week. While the Junior class won the competition, all three of the grades had outstanding performances. Being a judge is not easy! If you were not able to attend this year, make a point of coming out to see our talented students hit the big stage next year. Additionally, there will be a musical put on later in May. More details on that to come.

There are a few things I wanted to bring your attention to, over the next couple of weeks.  Tomorrow, we will be hosting a MASSCUE technology event.  Over 150 educators from across the state will be here for various technology workshops centered on Google.  It is amazing how far we have come over the last few years with our technology enhancements, that we are now able to host such an event.

We have started the course registration process for next year.  We will kick things off on March 1st with a few meetings.  At 6:00 pm, we will have a meeting for parents of students in grades 8-12 which will give information about the scheduling process, 4 year planning, and college planning.  This meeting should run about 45 minutes long.  At 7:00 pm, we will run a meeting for 8th grade parents in the auditorium for an introduction to LHS, more detailed scheduling information, and a Q&A.  Also at 7:00 pm, there will be a college planning meeting in the LHS Project Room for Junior parents.  I hope you are able to attend.

Graduation – Graduation has been finalized.  We will be holding graduation on Saturday, June 3 at 10:00 am.  The event is scheduled to be held outside on the football field.  If there is inclement weather, we will hold graduation in the gymnasium.

Here is a list of some of the events over the next two weeks:

  • Tuesday, February 21 – Boys Basketball vs. Hudson at 6:30 pm in the LMHS Gymnasium
  • Wednesday, February 22 – Hockey (playing for a #1 seed in the tournament) vs. Assabet Valley at 3:30 pm at the Wallace Civic Center
  • Thursday, February 23 – Girls Basketball Senior Night vs. Fitchburg at 7:00pm in the LMHS Gymnasium
  • Sunday, February 26 – MIAA State Championship at 9:30 am at Reggie Lewis Center
  • Wednesday, March 1 – Scheduling Meetings (See Above) Starting at 6:00 pm in the Auditorium
  • Tuesday, March 7 – State Ski Meet at 9:30 am at Wachusett Mountain

Seeding meetings will be held later this week for the MIAA tournaments of our qualifying teams (Girls Basketball and Hockey).  Congrats to the Boys Skiing team for winning the League Championship this week at Nashoba Valley Ski Area!

Enjoy your week!
