Two Week Look Ahead - May 3, 2017

We are now firmly into fourth term and the countdown is on for prom, graduation, and other year-end activities.  However, in school, our students are focused on Advanced Placement exams, the SAT, MCAS, and other projects and assessments being given in classrooms.  At least the sun is shining this morning to give everyone a little extra motivation.

LHS is a very busy place this time of year, from 8:00 am – 9:00 pm.  More than half of our students are participating in extra-curricular activities.  These activities include: athletics, a Capella, jazz band, various clubs, and involvement in the school musical.  Hopefully, you can find the time to attend some of the events going on at LHS.

Seniors are counting down the days of classes that remain for them.  There are barely double digit days left for the Class of 2017, before they take final exams.  The week of Memorial Day (May 30-June 3) is when all of the Senior activities take place.  The Senior Motorcade will run a bit differently this year and will include send-offs at each of the schools in the district.  In the past, students have shown an interest in teachers from their younger years being part of their graduation.  On Wednesday, May 31, the Senior Motorcade will leave from Conrad’s just after 9:00 am and drive to the Primary School, Turkey Hill Elementary School, and around the bus loop at LMHS before parking in the student parking lot.  Seniors will take one lap around LMHS while being cheered on by their teachers and classmates.  After their lap, students will have their Senior Breakfast in the cafeteria, followed by the Senior Video.  It should be a fun day!

Graduation will be held on Saturday, June 3 at 10:00 am on the main grass field.  This event is open to the public.  We will have about 600 seats on the field along with all of the bleacher seating.  In the event of inclement weather, the graduation ceremony will be held in the gymnasium and simulcast into the auditorium.  I will need to make the call on an indoor or outdoor ceremony by noon on Friday, June 2.
